Meltdown update: January 18, 2010

Monday, January 18th, 2010

I have been knocked down with a heavy cold since last week. It started on Tuesday evening and by Friday afternoon I had to give in. I have been in bed since Friday afternoon, but today I am finally feeling a break in the congestion. I made the stupid mistake of stepping on the scales this morning, and it wasn’t an encouraging sight. I could get mad at myself, get depressed, and all that ensues with the scales going back up, but you know what? I was sick. In bed for 3 days. I drank lots of juice and ate whatever I felt I could because I couldn’t cook. I know that I can get back in the saddle, and so I began again this morning. That’s called a “do-over” folks, and that’s life. Instead of fighting nature, I need to work with it. I don’t think I’m ready for cardio today because I still need to take medicine, but I am able to get my eats back under control.

I have always learned that you should listen to your body, but I also found a helpful link to explain whether you should exercise or not while sick at fitnesshealthzone.com. Should you find yourself feeling under the weather, don’t push yourself. It’s OK, and you can get right back to it when you get well.  I still have several months before the pool opens, and that’s the beauty of a plan and not wanting results like yesterday. I have time on my side!
